What season is lacrosse played? Lacrosse is a spring sport.
How are the teams divided? See Travel Tryouts tab to the left.
How much does the program cost? House League: $150 and Travel: $275 (includes House League)
When is registration? Registration will begin online for returning players on Monday, January 11th and for new players on Monday, January 18th (*siblings who have not played before are considered new players).
How does our family register? Go to the website and locate the Register Online tab to the left. (The tab will not be available before January 11th.) Online registration requires that you pay by credit card. GYL prefers Visa and Mastercard. You will then receive an email confirming your registration from the website.
What is the deadline for registration? Monday, January 25th, 2010
Can I register a child in a grade above or below his/her current grade? No. GYL remains a grade level program. Your child is eligible only for his or her current grade level of play.
What is GYL's Refund policy? GYL will refund your Spring 2009 registration fee, less a $50 fee, if you make your request by email through the "Feedback" Tab on the website Association page before midnight on February 25th, 2010. No refunds will be given after this date.
When does GYL start for 2010? Jersey Day is March 6th, 2010. House League starts on March 20th. Travel tryouts for Boys and Girls begin March 6th. Friday Night Clinics begin on April 2nd. Check the website for up to date information.
Typically where do we practice? Greenwich High School, OGRCC, and Western Middle School. Practice schedules are posted online under the Travel Teams tab (locate your child's team from the pull down menu). Any changes to the schedule are posted online as well. House League is conducted at Greenwich High School.
Where are away games for travel? All different locations in Connecticut, Long Island, and New Jersey. Directions to all fields are in the Directions tab to the left.
How do parents keep abreast of what's going on? Check the website: http://www.greenwichyouthlacrosse.org. Ask your child's coach.
What does my registration fee go towards? We determine the registration fee by adding up all our costs and looking at the number of participants. The fee covers referees and officials, uniforms, personal and team equipment (goalie equipment, goals, nets, cones, balls etc.), medical kits, insurance for all players and coaches, membership to U.S. Lacrosse for all players and coaches, and jamboree and tournament fees.
What is U.S. Lacrosse? The national governing body of men's and women's lacrosse. All players will become members of U.S. Lacrosse upon registering for the GYL programs. Their website is http://www.uslacrosse.org.
What are the rules of Boys and Girls lacrosse? For specific rules and other great information, go to the Boys and Girls Rules tabs on the left.
What is the uniform? GYL provides jerseys and shorts for boys travel players, skorts and jerseys for girls travel players, and pinneys for House League participants.
