About GYL
Mission
The mission of Greenwich Youth Lacrosse (GYL) is to teach and support the game of lacrosse in an environment of safety, respect and fun. The program has several goals: We strive to provide our players with the appropriate level of coaching instruction; we seek to build a player’s confidence in learning lacrosse skills; we aspire to develop a sense of teamwork, fair play, and respect for rules, opponents, officials, teammates and self; and we aim to develop character values that will benefit today’s players in later years and in other endeavors. Players will learn the value of teamwork, determination and committment AND have a great time playing lacrosse.
About Greenwich Youth Lacrosse
Greenwich Youth Lacrosse offers a lacrosse program for boys and girls during the spring season for Greenwich residents. GYL's House League Program is open to boys and girls in grades 1 - 6, and GYL's Travel Program is open to boys in grades 3 - 8 and to girls in grades 4 - 8. GYL is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and is a member of U.S Lacrosse, the Connecticut-New York Lacrosse Association (CONNY), and the CT Chapter of US Lacrosse. GYL introduced the game of lacrosse to Greenwich in 1972 (read about our history on the tab at left). Enrollment in 2007 was approximately 1000 boys and girls in grades 1 through 8.

GYL follows the youth sports philosophy espoused by the Positive Coaching Alliance, a Stanford University-based organization with a mission to "transform youth sports so sports can transform youth."
