Coaches Training
Greenwich Youth Lacrosse strives to find coaches with a combination of good lacrosse knowledge, the ability to teach skills, and the ability to relate positively to young athletes. We hope to shape the skills and enthusiasm of our players so that they develop a love for the game of lacrosse.
GYL is excited to announce a partnership with The Positive Coaching Alliance to create and maintain an “Honoring the Game” culture throughout our organization.
The Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) is transforming youth sports so sports can transform youth. Through partnership with more than 1,100 youth sports organizations, leagues, schools and cities nationwide, PCA has conducted 5,000-plus workshops for youth sports coaches, parents, organizational leaders and athletes.
The Partnership program includes live workshops for our coaches and parents, with the goals of:
A workshop for house league and travel coaches is scheduled for March 6th, 2009. Time and location will be posted on our home page.

2010 Coaching Requirements for GYL
These courses are requirements for the GYL travel program coaches. House League coaches are highly encouraged to participate as well. Information on linking to the courses follows below.
Coaches for the boys travel program must:
Pass the 2010 CONNYLacrosse On-Line Rules Test BEFORE the start of the 2010 CONNY season.
AND …
Coaches for the boys and girls travel programs must:
Pass the US Lacrosse Coaches Education Program Level 1 or Level II Coaches Course online or in-person BEFORE the start of the 2010 season.
OR
Pass the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) Double-Goal Coach Course online or in person BEFORE the start of the 2010 season.

Instructions:
1. Please completely register your name in the CONNY database BEFORE taking the test.
2. At the bottom of the Registration form, please identify the team you will coach and indicate your role on the team (head coach, assistant coach, Scheduler, etc.) as appropriate. You can use several drop down lines if you have multiple roles on a team or multiple teams.

US Lacrosse Coaching Education Program LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 ONLINE COACHES COURSES
You can access the US Lacrosse CEP Level 1 and Level 2 Online Coaches Courses through this link: http://www.uslacrosse.org/cep/online.phtml, which will take you to the Online Course Page.
Then click on “Course Registration Click Here to register for the Level 1 Online Course.”
Boys Coaches: Enter CONNY Lacrosse: 262970 into the “program/league name” field. If you forget to write CONNY Lacrosse: 262970 then we have no way to record that you have completed the course.
Girls Coaches: Your code is: 5WLAX

PCA DOUBLE-GOAL COACH ONLINE COURSE
GYL travel team coaches who were unable to attend the live workshop must take the Double-Goal Coach online course. We encourage House League coaches to take the course as well. Get started now by clicking this link:

Boys and Girls Program Coaches: While registering, you will be asked to identify your ORGANIZATION, please write: CONNY. If you forget to write CONNY then CONNY will not recognize that you have completed the course. The cost of the course is $25 which must be paid online at the time you take the course.
